John Bayley travels to Chilton Trinity Technology College in Bridgewater, to observe and support Kat, who finds that low-level disruption is causing students to go off-task. Bayley discovers the solution is not so much behaviour management, but lies more with Kat's lesson planning.

Behaviour expert John Bayley demonstrates different ways of encouraging positive behaviour to teaching assistant Toni Barrett. Toni, who works at Chilton Trinity Technology College in Somerset, has a robust personality and enjoys the challenge of cover supervision.However when things go wrong, she frequently lacks the behaviour management techniques to put them right. John aims to help her improve her commands and shows her how to understand the appropriate level of pupil noise for different activities in lessons.

John Bayley visits a teacher and two TAs to give them practical advice on how to provide effective support to one another in the classroom. At Bishop Stopford's School in Enfield, recently qualified RE teacher Flora Hoori and her team have difficulties controlling form 9B3's behaviour. They are often noisy and unfocused and, despite having two teaching assistants in the classroom to offer support, the team is currently finding the going tough. TAs Sharon Collins and Vuyisa Henry are mainly allocated to SEN pupils. Bayley believes teacher Flora could be making greater use of the talents of her support staff in managing the class and allowing her the space to teach more effectively. Bayley talks to the team about the power of praise, and including a wider range of activities catering more closely to the needs of the students, and the team put his advice into practice.

John Bayley visits an HLTA and an NQT to give them practical advice on how to provide effective support for one another as they work together to manage student behaviour. HLTA Jane Rixson used to be the senior science technician at of Bishop Stopford's School in Enfield, before training as an HTLA. Now, she works closely with Science NQT Rakesh. Their main problem is consistency, especially with form 7T. The students can often be noisy, unfocused and disrespectful of each other's work, although at other times they are angelic. Despite the unpredictable behaviour, Bayley is struck by the excellent collaborative working relationship between Jane and Rakesh. Jane takes responsibility for teaching the starter, whilst Rakesh patrols the floor dealing with the needs of individual students. John Bayley suggests a number of strategies to make behaviour more consistent, including giving more explicit instructions and putting the emphasis on positive consequences.
